There are some things that just DON’T go together:
- Tasha and a bedtime past 9:00 P.M.
- Tasha and a pantry without peanut butter.
- Tasha and a car without ten books, three bags and seven boxes on snacks on the seat and floor.
- Tasha in a barre studio
So…..the idea that I’m getting ready to start teaching in a barre studio on a super consistent basis is a little puzzling to most.
It was puzzling to me too.
I was actually presented with the opportunity to teach Xtend Barre right after I decided to retire from teaching Zumba (so, to answer the question, no I did not “quit” one to do the other). The truth is I had NEVER even heard of Xtend Barre and, until this very day, I’m not even sure how I ended up finding out about it or how I ended up at an audition. But I did.
And it is one of the best decisions I’ve made in a looooong time.
Xtend Barre Huntsville (it is a franchise) is not just an amazing workout. Xtend Barre Huntsville is built up of some AMAZING people. Teachers, dancers, fitness instructors, people who just like to move, athletes, runners, ALL of these types of people will be your instructors. And we all have different body types. And for me, it was even MORE personal.
I know some exist but I’ve never seen a Black barre instructor in my life. Add thick thighs and a Chicago persona and let me just say, barre life as you know it is about to change. 😊
One of the reasons I was so drawn to this assignment was that I know so many people who disqualify themselves from barre because they do not see themselves as “dancers” or don’t believe they have the right “body type.” Some people just don’t go because they haven’t felt welcomed for a multitude of reasons (I could write an entire blog on that). Barre classes/studios can often feel exclusive and can be expensive. I get everything isn’t for everybody all the time but it doesn’t mean we just need to make it for the people we think should take it. I think Xtend Barre Huntsville is getting ready to change the game in this way.
But WHAT IS IT and why should you hang with us?
Well, Xtend Barre is dance inspired but it is geared towards everybody! It is also cardio based and rooted in Pilates. We are REALLY adamant on technique and safety while rocking to great music and making sure everyone in our classes feels connected and challenged. Initially on our schedule (click here to view) we will be offering our signature Barre class in addition to an express class, Suspend (yep, it’s EXACTLY what you think. A TRX based barre class!) and I will be teaching both a yoga fusion and a Pilates fusion class. We will be adding additional classes in January. ALL levels are welcome AND we offer MULTIPLE classes a day, SEVEN days a week!
But what everyone wants to know is…..how much does it cost? 😊
Our VIX (Very Important Xtender) Founder Membership is $139 (includes 10% off retail, free VIX only events, discounted workshops and events, free socks, 1 guest pass each month, unlimited classes). We also have a $49 2 week (unlimited classes) deal going right now. READ THIS CAREFULLY: GET THIS NOW!!! We are set to open the week before Christmas and for most of us, we have down time during the holidays; which means more time to do the things we don’t have time to do when we are running around during the other 11 months of the year. Our kids’ activities have slowed down and we can focus on us! This way, you can try all of the classes and see which ones fit you best!
While The VIX Founder is not sold on our app (did I mention this does NOT have to be a year long commitment?), the $49 deal (and single class passes) are. Click here to take advantage of our pre-sales and use the code: tashae. You will NOT be charged until we open. This just locks in your rate. If you are interested in the VIX Founders Membership or have any other questions email me at email@example.com.
If you know me then you know I don’t get behind ANYTHING I don’t believe in whole heartedly. I believe in Xtend Barre. I believe in inclusiveness. I believe this workout is for everyone. I believe that when we change our minds about ourselves, we change the way we think about others and don’t project our negative feelings on them. Then we all feel better and get better.
See you at the Barre.
