Just Give Me Five Minutes

My body, mind and goals are all playing different games. All of them to win but nobody wants to work together. In the meantime, I’m over here on the couch thinking about pancakes.

I’ve been so tired lately. A lot of it has to do with not fueling myself with enough food and water. It could also have to do with the fact that I teach ten to twelve classes a week, train quite a few clients and like to travel. It could be that I just turned 40 three months ago and my metabolism stayed in my thirties. Whatever it is, I need for it to get off my back. I’ve got work to do!!!!

Me not being able to REALLY take a MAJOR step forward towards my goal has is based on quite a few things.

  1. I’m tired of being in the gym. I work there. If you’ve never been in this place, I can’t explain it to you but when it’s time for me to leave, I want to get out of the building. (Maybe it’s the introvert in me?) I love what I do. I also love seeing other things.
  2. I live in a non-friendly plant based environment. When I’ve taught three or four classes in a day, the last thing I want to do is cook. Now that I am supposed to be limiting my soy and gluten, my choices are super limited. Yes, I know all about food prep and on a good week, I have time to do it. But if I don’t, well, not only is my stomach hurting from eating the wrong things but my wallet sucks from paying for it.
  3. I’m scatter brained. I do too many things at once and never really focus on one thing long enough to get it done.
  4. I’m an ALL or NOTHING person.
  5. I’m an ALL or NOTHING person.
  6. I’m an ALL or NOTHING person.
  7. I’m an ALL or NOTHING person.

If I can’t find just the right space, the right music and the right equipment to work out (and my brain isn’t on all of the work I have to do for other people) then I’ll find my way drifting through it. If I don’t have enough time to do what I want to do, I’ll skip it.

We all say “make time” and “you make time for what you want to do.” I have two choices. I can cancel all of my classes for the next month and give myself time to work on my own body, mind, injuries and diet or I can start out with five minutes a day.

It takes THAT long to turn my phone on.

What can I do in five minutes a day? I can create consistency. I can start to climb these big mountains. Time is going to pass anyway. Hopefully, Lord willing, I will be here this time next year. Whether I use my time towards my goal or not, the days are going to pass.

I have decided to take eight five-minute challenges throughout the day to help me towards my goals. It seems “primary.” This is the EXACT same method I used from being able to barely stay on the elliptical to becoming a personal trainer, group fitness instructor and losing 80 pounds twice.

If you had to choose some things to REALLY focus in on, what would they be? And when you feel overwhelmed, tired, overcommitted and just over it, say to yourself….

Just give me five minutes…”

  1. Goodness Tasha, you have a lot on your plate! I hope you take some steps to feed yourself better and take care of your body and mind. You need and deserve it!!

    Right now, I think I need to take five minutes to just stretch! I have let my flexibility slide and it has made me feel physically so much older and out of it.
