#40IsLikeWhoa: Liz Bowden

This could turn into a very long post so I will try to condense eleven years of thoughts, work and admiration into a few sentences. Liz isn’t the “touchy feely” type anyway and she is probably too busy running around with her cape in the wind to read this anyway. 😊

If you know her, you’re probably laughing because you know I’m right.

Liz Bowden

Elizabeth Bowden, or in our world, Ms. Liz, is a powerhouse. It’s not just because she is an AMAZING dancer and owner of NEEMA Performing Arts but this former collegiate track star manages to be in fifty places at one time and commit herself to the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of children in her community. That rocks.

I met Liz very shortly after I moved to Alabama in 2004. I could not afford dance classes but I NEEDED to dance. She was the first ad I saw in the yellow pages and the first (and only) person I called. I offered to work in exchange for dance classes. It just so happened that the job I was supposed to do wasn’t needed the night I went in to work and I ended up taking a class I wasn’t supposed to take. Needless to say, we’ve been together ever since.

I think one of the things I admire most about Liz (other than her stamina) is her ability to focus and get things done. Not only is she a wife and mother, running NEEMA with a full time job and doing everything else, she also gets up in the morning and hits the gym. She knows when she’s off. She knows how to get it on track. She knows when she has a goal. She knows what to do to meet it.  That discipline is what separates those who try and those who quit.
