One of my favorite sayings is “The struggle is real but the victory is too.” And I’ve never known a person who was quietly on the grind (ALL of the time) like my friend, Naomi. And now she’s has her doctorate in physical therapy. That’s a #BOOM moment.
Naomi and I met shortly after I moved to Alabama over a decade. We were destined to find each other because we were the only two African American yoga teachers with locs around here (and I STILL don’t know HOW people get us confused as she is 5’9 with a track body. I’ll take it but still). She started coming to yoga class every now and then. Naomi is SUPER modest and mild-mannered so you’d never know she knows as much as she does. The more I hung around her, the more I started to believe she knew everything.
What I love most about Naomi is that she is a GO-GETTER. I think she has trained in every holistic health modality known to man 😊 and besides just having a genuine heart, she is an AMAZING massage therapist, personal trainer, yoga teacher and now physical therapist.
When talking about all the training she was going to do and had done, I just straight out asked her one day was she rich. I will never forget how she looked me in my eyes, laughed her head off and then said, “No, I’m in debt up to my eyeballs!” And look at her now. Wow. Naomi is taking care of others, taking care of herself and making it look easy. Did I mention she did all of this as a single parent?
I LOVE YOU, Sister!!!! I am so proud of you. You are an amazing example of determination and consistency! Thank you for making the 40’s look good!!!
