You don’t have to know me long to know I’m always on the go.
One of the biggest misconceptions about my busy lifestyle is that I get to work out all day. I’m a personal trainer. I get to work OTHER people out all day. As a group fitness instructor, my first job is to INSTRUCT, not get in a great workout for myself. I do work up a great sweat in class but sometimes I just need everything to slow down so I can work on mySELF and brush up on my skills. I get a little gym time in but (and if you’re a fitness professional you can relate), when I’m at the gym, people think I’m “working” so they stop talk and ask questions. I haven’t aggressive enough to say, “Ummm, can I holler at you AFTER these push-ups?” (I’m working on it.) I even have a membership at another gym. I haven’t made it over there since I signed up. I needed something to help me fill in the gaps. I needed inspiration. I needed something that wouldn’t take two hours. Enter Gigabody!
I was given the opportunity to review Gigabody as a Sweat Pink ambassador (the perks are awesome but the opinions are truthful and all my own). It took me a while to really review some classes (remember, my schedule is crazy. That’s why I need Gigabody in the first place but I digress.) I sent out a tweet when I first got the membership and asked what was everyone’s favorite class. Valerie, the founder of Gigabody, was so nice in giving me some options to start with, as well as her personal favorites. I still sort of sat on it, “thinking” about doing a class until, one day, it hit me that I own a bunch of technology for a reason.
I was at the gym for a power walk and instead of just doing a plank or a few crunches, I turned on my Bluetooth and pulled Gigabody up on my phone looking for ab routine. I quickly found a 12 minute ab routine by Kelly Coffey-Meyer. No lie. I couldn’t get up after it was done. I’m not even sure I finished it. What I loved was that someone who can be commitment phobic like me (always running to the next thing), I didn’t find the amount of time intimidating. It seemed attainable and reasonable. When we are looking to get started or fit something into our schedule, this is SUPER important.
Gigabody has videos ranging in time (some of them are small snippets of a longer video which I love) in the categories of cardio, strength and sculpt, yoga, kickbox and box, dance and barre, flexibility and abs. You can find classes by instructor (currently nine different ones and everyone’s style is different) or you can even sign up for plan according to your goals and it will list what classes to take when to help you reach that goal, all for less than $10 a MONTH. How awesome is that?
If I had to pick a favorite, it would be Jennifer Galardi’s barre and ballet workouts. Her form is beautiful and I found these were awesome to help support me in teaching Piloxing and dance (she also has some other classes on there if you like a little spice and that’s all I’m saying). And while I WILL admit I did not “do” this class (I teach cardio and I was worn out but I’m nosey and wanted to see), Bombay Jam is the bomb! It looks like so much fun. That crew is SUPER energetic! If you live in Cali and like to dance, I hear they are certifying instructors soon. 🙂
Could you use some on the go motivation? I’m giving one of my readers a free month of Gigabody. This is PERFECT if you haven’t had time to make it to the gym (blizzard, hello?), want to kick up your game some or just aren’t ready to step into that gym life yet. I, personally, am going to get into some of the strength training on the site in the next day or so.
