Footwear Friday: #FitWithAsics: Asics GEL-Fit Sana Review

Here’s the scene when I get home from teaching Zumba or Piloxing:

Asics GEL-Fit AsanaReal talk: I can’t WAIT to take my shoes off. Seriously, I have a thing who running around barefoot. I don’t know if it has to do with spending my whole life wanting to be a dancer and now being one and teaching dance and yoga or if I just like to be free. But here’s the funny thing: I own A LOT of shoes. An oxymoron right? I LOVE shoes. So it makes sense that I favor shoes that have a barefoot feel, right? And that’s my love with the Asics GEL-Fit Sanas.

Barefoot running hit the scene and the world went CRAZY. Everyone was making, buying and wearing minimalist running shoes. I wore (and wear) them too. But I am no runner. I love the lightweight feel of them for teaching Zumba and Piloxing (temporarily, until I can get my Achilles healthy again and go back to teaching barefoot). The GEL-Fit Sana isn’t made for running (thanks for thinking about the rest of us, Asics!). It’s a training shoe. It weighs less than a half pound (5.6 oz. to be exact so it’s super light), has a sock like feel (has an elastic internal sleeve instead of a traditional “tongue” which is SUPER comfortable and flexible), has a rear foot cushioning system (actually the shoe adapts to my entire foot but can I get a Woot! Woot! for achilles relief?) and can I just say the pink is super cute? I was MORE than glad to try these out as part of campaign sponsored by my FitFluential family. (All opinions are my own).

I have worn these shoes while teaching on carpet, a gym floor, an aerobics floor and a hardwood floor. I’ve worn them while personal training. I’ve spent SEVERAL hours shopping in them (the shoes may be comfortable but my Belk bill is anything but), went through an all day dance rehearsal in them and have just worn them on short errands. They’ve proven to be comfortable in every instance. I love the versatility of that; straight from sweating to shopping in the same shoes (with a shower in between, of course). I can wear them with jeans, leggings or my signature workout capris.

If you’re looking for an alternate shoe to get your training on, consider picking the Asics GEL-Fit Sanas up. Priced under $100 and available in six different colors, this is a perfect post-holiday gift to yourself to get ready for 2015. Because you know it’s on in the New Year, right?

Let me know if you try them. I may throw mine back on and either do some squats or go get some desserts. Told you they were versatile. 🙂
