Seasonal Smoothie Challenge and Giveaway: November’s Edition!

I’m cleaning out my life.  In ALL ways.

Tasha-77My eyes were literally swollen this morning from cleaning up so much dust (I’m allergic to it.  I think that’s a perfect reason to have a housekeeper, don’t you think?) and scrubbing toilets, moving furniture and throwing out old clothes.  I also posted yesterday about how I know November is a turning point for me.  Time to get my body back in working order.  The chaos started with my food so I’m going there first with solutions.

The holiday season is upon us (yes, even vegans too.  I don’t eat eggs or dairy.  I never said I didn’t eat) and the Puritan’s Pride Superfood Smoothie challenge is RIGHT ON TIME.  It’s so easy to eat until you can’t stand up  indulge. I’m excited about the focus on cleansing and soothing this month.  I want everything to be in working order so I can enjoy what I do decide to eat.

This post is sponsored by Puritan’s Pride.  Opinions expressed are my own.

This is my second month participating in the Superfood Smoothie challenge Puritan’s Pride and I have enjoyed “thinking out of the box.” I am very cold-natured and have a tendency to steer clear of smoothies when it gets cool outside.  However, with my life being all over the place lately, I have found myself enjoying smoothies a lot more with a hot cup of tea on the side (o.k. and Starbucks occasionally) and have been pleased with how I felt, energy wise and feeling lighter on my feet when I am teaching Zumba, yoga or Piloxing. Have you been drinking smoothies lately?  What are some of your favorite combos?  Feel free to tag me on Instagram or Twitter (@hiphealthychick) and tag them #seasonalsmoothie, #PuritansPride and #sweatpink so we can all build our own smoothie recipe book!

I’ll start by sharing the one I created this morning!

It was a GREAT day Friday when I walked into Earth Fare and saw organic blueberries on sale.

blueberries

Blueberries are just one of my favorite fruits.  I can’t really describe why but they are just super good. I knew I had some Emergen C Immune + Vitamin D (vitamin D deficiency over here.  Think I need to go to the beach) Blueberry-Acai flavor drink mix packets at home.  I love drinking these before my classes.  A much better alternative than some of the other stuff I’ve been known to drink in my past. 🙂 I have not been getting in enough protein and I have not been as regular as I like (TMI but I’m just saying).  It was a no brainer.

(Because of the bulk fiber, as instructed on the package, I drank water immediately afterwards.)

This turned out pretty good.  And with only 110 calories in the protein powder (24 grams of protein!), this smoothie wasn’t super high in calories.  Win. Win.

Kale powder

I, honestly, thought about throwing some kale in there.  EVERY time I think about detoxing and cleansing, I think kale.  And no, I don’t know why?  Too much Instagram? 🙂 But because I put it in everything else (and this kale powder is the B.O.M.B.), I decided to just hold off until the next smoothie.

Here’s your chance to win the products I’m using!

I love blueberries in a smoothie too! Have you tried freezing them? I go to a pick-your-own blueberry farm, get a gallon and then freeze. It’s usually enough for the whole year including blueberry pies and muffins. 🙂

I have frozen them before! I didn’t get to pick any this summer but last summer we did and we had blueberries for a looooonnnngg time! 🙂
