On The Way Back: Pain, Piloxing, Progress

I’m at the SCW Fitness MANIA this weekend in Atlanta. I LOVE this place, the city and the event.  I’ve met so many incredible people at MANIA, including Viveca Jensen, the creator of Piloxing. I’m here helping to promote the very program I fell in love with over four years ago (yeah, it’s been that long).  Jordan, our lead Master Trainer here in the United States (didn’t you know? We are all over the world!!!) is here KILLING it. And I had the pleasure of taking my first Piloxing class since surgery with her. Wow.

First, let me say, “Ouch.”

Now that I’ve said that, let me say I’m glad I got it out of my system. You know how it goes, you hear the music, forget you’re injured, see your girl throwing down, get hyped and go psycho. I felt like I had three months of hooks and hip bumps to release. If you’ve taken Piloxing (and if you haven’t , WHY NOT?) you know there is quite a bit of balance work. Well, hello? Achilles injury over here. So my balance was off. And I had to adjust. But I DID it. And that’s progress.

And so are Jordan’s legs. Whoa, Mama!

I’m proud of myself. I needed ice last night and am looking for some Alleve right now BUT I’m over the hump. And I’m looking forward to see you in class Wednesday at 4:30.p.m.

    I’ve never done piloxing but it looks like something I’d like to try. I’m a regular at Pilates reformer class but want to expand my fitness options.
