Athletes of ALL Sizes Need Support: Sports Bras and Giveaway!

See those———–?  Yeah, my computer is old so I don’t hDDDPicave the symbol I need to direct your attention to exhibit A with the intensity in ave which I need for you to feel this moment?  This picture is dark but I want to you to look closely underneath my nephew’s airplane.  Looks like he is landing on a mountain.  Yes, that.  Those would be my 42DDD breasts.  At 22 years old.

I don’t want anyone to believe I have been running around like an ironing board my entire life.  I DO understand the PAIN (yes, I meant to put that in caps and bold) of carrying around the extra weight on the front of my body.  I had so much pain that, at the age of 23, I had a medically necessary breast reduction.  How is it deemed medically necessary?  Well, when your insurance company is willing to pay for it instead of paying for all of the other problems you are consistently having because of it (neck pain, back pain, lack of desire to exercise because of the uncomfortableness, rashes, etc.) then it’s necessary.

Jazz III had large breasts even as a teenager.  I was the girl in dance class who had to wear straps when the majority of the other girls could wear tube tops.  So while I understand and feel the pain of the girls in the gym with similar problems, I don’t envy you.  Girls who want to have them put on their bodies, be careful what you ask for. 🙂

Being small does have its perks.  Sometimes I can get away with wearing just a tank to bed or just wearing the tank with the bra in it to yoga.  However, as we get older and our bodies start to change, we need support.  And because I do more than sleep and yoga and I AM getting older, I have a wide selection of sports bra that I use for every activity.  I have found out over the span of my fitness career that one sports bra just isn’t going to cut it. (Wow, have I expanded from the days of only being able to afford one.) But sports bras are a NECESSARY expense.  And you need to know which one is the right on20130914_192350e for YOU and for the activities you enjoy.

My friends (and I don’t just say that in a cheesy way.  These are some of the coolest, most down to earth, informative people I have ever met) at Under Armour have really opened my eyes to the world of sports bras.  The technology is so cool and different and having the inside info has really helped me make informed decisions about which ones I like best. They sent me some bras to try out and ooooooh!!!  Let me just say I have the best job in the world.  And if my six pack was completely solid, this blog post would be completely full of me in every Under Armour sports bra I own.  But I’ll spare you. 🙂

When I waUnder Armour Sports Braske up in the morning, I have to think about what sports bra to put on, according to how my day is going to go.  Am I strictly yoga today?  Am I going to to Zumba?  Piloxing?  Weight training? I took the Under Armour sports bra quiz (look to the right in the column to take the quiz) and found out what bra was right for me based on my activity AND my size! (Did you know UA is making sports bras according to your cup and band size, not just small, medium and large? I looooooovvvvveeeee that!)

Under Armour Heat Gear Bra

I rotate between the seamless essential (looove for yoga), the heat gear (can’t wait to get the new colors) and my absolute FAVORITE.. the Armour Bra.  Now, the Armour Bra is built for running and Under Armour Seamless Brahigh-intensity training but, well, have you ever been to my Zumba class?  🙂  I honestly just like the extra support and lift (ALWAYS good) and I just really like the way it feels.  I do wear my heat gear for Zumba and Piloxing all the time but I am just emotionally attached to my Armour Bra.

  1. Quiz says I should wear the Armour Protegee!

  2. LaTonya Burnley says:

Get Set Go is what it says I should wear

  3. Chrissi says:

They picked the Armour Bra for me 🙂 Awesome post! There are runners all over the country that I’d like to pull to the side and tell them to go get fitted for a proper sports bra. Seriously. It makes a HUGE difference! I recently got refitted and I went down in band size! #nonscalevictory

    • HipHealthyChick says:

Great job, Cnrissi! Yes, a good sports bra makes ALL the difference! Thanks for entering! Good luck!

  4. Dana McKeen says:

Even though I’m small, I still need a good bra! The difference is a good bra for me can be a lot cheaper than for someone with DD’s – those bras are like $60-70 a pop! But anyway, let’s see what Under Armour has for ME…. Protogee! Interesting! I definitely like the look of the front zip, although I worry it could be chafe-y…

    • HipHealthyChick says:

EVERYONE needs a good bra! The Protégée is fantastic. I have not had ANY chafing. The zipper locks and keeps from flying all over the place. The cups are separate so you won’t have the uni-boob thing going on. LOL. Good luck! Thanks for entering!

  5. Carson says:

    I match with the Protegee!

  6. Amanda says:

I should be wearing the protege one. I’d love to try it too!

  7. Sarah says:

They recommend the armour bra for me…unfortunately, they do not have it in my size. 34DD is the closest they can get. 🙁

    • HipHealthyChick says:

I’m sorry, Sarah. 🙁 I WILL tell you that UA is VERY MUcH aware of the population of women who have larger breasts and are working out and need style AND support. I can’t give you a timeline but I CAN tell you they are on it!

  8. alexandria says:

The armour bra is my recommended one. Love UA gear especially their bras. :- )

  9. Rachel says:

Mine is “Still Gotta Have It”

  10. Samanth says:

They picked the Armour Bra. No surprise as it is the best sports bra I’ve ever owned. I could use a couple more though. When that one is dirty, I have to double (or triple) up on my regular sports bras.

    • HipHealthyChick says:

Love that bra! Yeah, I bet it’s uncomfortable to have to double up. 🙁 Good luck!! Thanks for entering!

  11. Jennifer says:

it said i should wear the Still Gotta Have It mid impact and i love UA bras !!! I have only one so far but wow love it!!!!

  12. Debra Lee says:

    Get Set Go for me!

  13. Desi says:

I should try the “still gotta have it”!

  14. Jessica @ OrganicallYou says:

The quiz says my match is the Get Set Go!! I really hope I win, thank you!

  15. My perfect bra match is the Armour Protegee! Never owned a zip-up-the-front sports bra, but have always wanted to try one out.

    • HipHealthyChick says:

I LOVE the zip front. It’s better than any zip front I’ve ever owned. The zipper locks so it’s not flying all around. And the support is great.

  16. Tonya H. says:

They picked the armour bra for me!

    Great giveaway!

  17. K.M. says:

It says I’d love the The Armour Bra® Protégée… Awesome giveaway, T! You’ve definitely opened my eyes to how UA is a good option. Honestly, I just thought they had shirts for men… never realized all the swag they have for women (and “the girls”) 🙂

    • HipHealthyChick says:

Love that bra! 🙂 Well, I honestly used to think the same thing. Or they were clothes for “athletes” and I didn’t see myself as athletic. UA is an awesome brand….not just for what they sell. Glad I could share with you!

  18. Ashleigh Chaffin says:

Heat Gear Sonic w/ Cups please!!

  19. toni says:

Get Set Go!!! Now I want one…

    • HipHealthyChick says:

I know, right? 🙂 That’s how I felt when I started learning about them! Thanks for entering! Good luck!

  20. Candice says:

Great info Tasha. Thanks for sharing it 🙂

  21. Viki says:

According to the quiz, I need the Get Set Go bra 🙂

  22. Keri says:

🙂 The quiz said my perfect match is The Armour Bra® Protégée. I haven’t tried any of these before so I think I definitely need to give it a shot! I’ve had the same sports bras for the last 3 years :O and I’ve been searching for ones with great support that are comfortable.

  23. Lauren says:

    I got Protegee

Tasha, I love your entries and the motivation you have! You’re an inspiration!!!!

  24. I like personally the heat gear have been wearing under armour alot lately i switch between them and Nike they give me the best support in training. As you know proper gear is so important when you train. It has to be comfortable point blank. If its stylish thats a plus. I love sportsbras keeps everything in place. Usually wear it with a racerback tank over it. I love colors but black is best for me.

  25. Leslie Malone says:

I should be wearing the Armour…in a large size. 🙂
