You probably won’t believe this but…..I’m not much of a thrill seeker. 🙂
I am your “play it safe” and stay close to the ground kind of girl. When summer hits and everyone wants to run to Six Flags, I’m like “nah, that’s o.k.” I don’t like roller coasters and there are no vegan food stands.
But I actually enjoyed my visits to Six Flags when I was a child. The rides I loved the most? THE WATER RIDES!!! Even if that meant a “little bit” of a drop. (My advice to those of you who have not experienced such….don’t get your hair done before. I don’t care how cute your boyfriend is. And don’t wear colored or print underwear under white shorts.) My favorite was the “White Water Rapids.” But those days are gone for me…well, sort of…..
Imagine my excitement when I heard about a 5K (well, not so much the running but I am working on that) that’s full of WATER!!! All I could think about was the days my mother didn’t let me go downstairs and get in the fire hydrant (smart decision on her part but, man, I wanted to go soooo bad) and the water gun fights. And who could forget water balloons? And it’s being held in one of my favorite places: ATLANTA, home of so many historical places but, for me, home to my favorite restaurant ever (Cafe Sunflower) and one of my all-time favorite happy places, the Dekalb Farmer’s Market. 🙂
The Drenched 5K is all about bringing back those summer time memories. Participants will run or walk from “hot zones” to “drenched zones” which may include mist tunnels, sprinkler minefields, spectator “sniper” zones (ooooh weeee!), bubbles, fire hoses and a 75ft. slip and slide (optional but not optional for me!) through the finish line! And, and, and…..at the finish, not only is there music, drinks and dancing but…..wait for it…. A WATER BALLOON FIGHT!!! Woot! Woot! I’m excited already.
The run in Saturday, August 17th. The Drenched 5K encourages teams, crazy costumes and big water guns. They also encourage families. Kids 5 and under run FREE and kids 12 and under receive discounted entries. This is THE event of the summer.
(*Disclaimer: I have been given a free entry by Drenched 5K to promote this event. However, all opinions are my own.)
