I’ve been blessed to have taught my life story through Zumba for six years. And I do mean my life story. I have had classes and songs themed around my birthday, I went on FOREVER after Michael Jackson died (still celebrate his birthday), other people’s birthday, have had the biggest Soul Train line ever (theme music, Marvin Gaye and all) when Don Cornelius died, threw a party in honor of Miles’ Birthday, raised money for kids to have toys, school clothes, about to do one for Jesus….
And I have dealt with a lot of unspoken pain through those classes. I would have spent much more on therapy had it not been for my classes. Instead, I decided to buy SHOES! 🙂 For six years, one of the most frequent questions I get is where did I get my shoes or what are the best shoes? Well, this Spring as I turn over into a new season of my life, I am changing styles AND shoes and OMG, do I loooooovvvveeeeee these shoes! 🙂
Reebok (whom, if you have read my blog before, you know I am a HUGE fan) was kind enough to send me a pair of their new dance sneaker, the UR Lead. Initially, I was like, “Really?” Because NEVER in my life have I ever worn a pair of high tops. Actually, until I started teaching fitness, I was a white tennis shoe only kind of girl. But I put them on and then went “Wow!” I really loved the support of the shoe. Stabilization of my ankles are especially important because I have tendinitis in my Achilles (and because I dance like I am trying to kill every ant in America). The blue (my favorite) in the shoe is the bomb and my nine year old exclaimed, “I can’t WAIT until you pass those down to me!”
I tried these shoes out in both of my weekly classes, one on a gym floor and one on carpet. The smooth bottom is a MUST to keep your knees safe when doing a lot of pivoting and there is a special spot on the bottom just for that. The UR Lead also glide really easy and they made me feel like I was “floating” (if that makes sense) instead of getting stuck on the floor. The shoes have both shoestrings and velcro and I enjoy the Velcro support at my ankles. I constantly have to tie the strings up on ANY shoe I wear. That’s a Tasha default. 🙂 I am currently searching for more matching clothes to wear with these shoes. 🙂 Thumbs up, Reebok!
Rob’s Really Good Zero Drinks: Woot! Woot! These are FABULOUS! I discovered these randomly on a trip to Whole Foods and decided to try them out. I opened the first bottle and found out that I had the millionth bottle cap and I had won a prize! (All of the other caps had cool messages in them.) I contacted the company, told them what I had, what I did and how I loved the drinks and they sent me one of each flavor to try! These drinks are ZERO calories, sweetened with Stevia and give you just enough flavor to keep you from reaching for something else (which was my problem after teaching….wanting something more than water with flavor…usually juice….usually TOO MANY CALORIES). The Grapefruit was my favorite, my daughter liked the, well, she liked all of them but I think she and my husband liked the cherry. My son didn’t really have an opinion. He just drank it. 🙂 I am going to have the cucumber with lunch. If you are out and about, pick some of these up or request that your local store carry them.
Bikram Yoga: I can’t believe I am saying this. No, really, As a yoga teacher, as a person who loves nothing better than lying on a yoga mat thinking about the greater good of the Universe, I never thought I would love (and hate) a class where I was praying to Jesus for it to be over. Every time. 🙂 I really enjoy the challenge and working on my flexibility AND not being the one who has to give the instruction. 🙂 Dell over at Bikram Yoga of Huntsville has an awesome studio and I really enjoy the cross training. But, wow, am I sore! 🙂
